Internet Protocol Television
IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a system where a digital television service is delivered using Internet Protocol over a network infrastructure, which may include delivery by a broadband connection. A general definition of IPTV is television content that, instead of being delivered through traditional broadcast and cable formats, is received by the viewer through the technologies used for computer networks.
For residential users, IPTV is often provided in conjunction with Video on Demand and may be bundled with Internet services such as Web access and VoIP. The commercial bundling of IPTV, VoIP and Internet access is referred to as "Triple Play" service (adding mobility is called "Quadruple Play"). IPTV is typically supplied by a service provider using a closed network infrastructure. This closed network approach is in competition with the delivery of TV content over the public Internet, called Internet Television. In businesses, IPTV may be used to deliver television content over corporate LANs.

List of DirecTV channels
Below is a numerical representation of the DirecTV channel lineup. Some channels have both east and west feeds, airing the same programming with a three-hour delay on the latter feed, creating a backup for those who missed their shows. The three-hour delay also represents the time zone difference between Eastern (UTC -5/-4) and Pacific (UTC -8/-7).
Note that most high-definition (HDTV) and foreign-language channels may require a certain satellite dish or set-top box. For a list of cities which broadcast local channels in high-definition, see List of DirecTV channels/Locals With HD.
Most channels come from the main satellites at 101°W longitude, and all systems from the very beginning can get these channels. Most DirecTV Spanish-Language programming and some Chinese programming is from 119°W. Most HDTV is from 99.2°W and 102.8°W, and will not show up in other program guides as it is essentially a different system (MPEG-4 AVC over DVB-S2, instead of MPEG-2 over DSS). Reception requires the large AT9 Ka/Ku or the new and lighter AU9-S Ka/Ku antenna.
Note that DirecTV has created potential confusion by using channel numbers 70 to 99 (as well as 1 and possibly 0). Because ATSC over-the-air (OTA) digital TV also has virtual channel numbering (just as DirecTV does), it would be entirely possible for local stations to use these as their major channel numbers, even though under current FCC rules regarding digital channel identification, stations must use their old analog channel numbers. Since channel numbers above 69 are not used for analog TV, there is no current conflict, but that could change in the future. Currently, TBN plans to use 75. For the new DirecTV boxes that have OTA tuning, these may show as channels 75-1 to 75-5, in this example. Additionally, the same channel number is listed for both the standard-definition (SD) channel and the high-definition (HD) channel, such as 202 for both CNN and CNN HD. DirecTV HD receivers can tune to each channel separately. This is required since programming may be different on the SD and HD versions of the channels; while at times the programming may be simulcast with the same programming on both SD and HD channels. Some HD channels will be listed as XXX-1, like local channels in HD are broadcast. Older HD receivers (that use the 3 LNB antenna) will only receive the MPEG-2 HD programming.
In addition to the channels listed below, DirecTV occasionally uses temporary channels for various purposes, such as emergency updates (e.g. Hurricane Gustav information on channel 363 in September 2008), channel announcements, and news of legislation that could affect subscribers.

Wireless Tv Channel Communication
Wireless Tv Channel communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors or "wires".[1] The distances involved may be short (a few meters as in television remote control) or very long (thousands or even millions of kilometers for radio communications). When the context is clear the term is often simply shortened to "wireless". Wireless communications is generally considered to be a branch of telecommunications.
It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile, and portable two way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless networking. Other examples of wireless technology include GPS units, garage door openers and or garage doors, wireless computer mice, keyboards and headsets, satellite television and cordless telephones.

IPTV and Internet TV
A telco IPTV service is usually delivered over a complex and investment heavy walled garden network, which is carefully engineered to ensure bandwidth efficient delivery of vast amounts of multicast video traffic. The higher network quality also enables easy delivery of high quality SD or HD TV content to subscribers’ homes. This makes IPTV by default the preferred delivery platform for premium content. However the investment for a telco to build an end-to-end IPTV service can be substantial.
By contrast "Internet TV" generally refers to transport streams sent over IP networks (normally the Internet) from outside the network that connects to the users premises. An Internet TV provider has no control over the final delivery and so broadcasts on a "best effort" basis. Elementary streams over IP networks and proprietary variants as used by websites such as YouTube are now rarely considered to be IPTV services.
Compared to telco IPTV, Internet TV is a quick-to-market and relatively low investment service. Internet TV rides on existing infrastructure including broadband, ADSL, Wi-Fi, cable and satellite which makes it a valuable tool for a wide variety of service providers and content owners looking for new revenue streams. However, due to the fact that IPTV is always delivered over low cost IP STBs, which have limited computing power, the capability for IPTV operators to provide diverse multimedia services is limited. This is where Internet TV has an advantage as it is delivered to a subscriber's (generally) powerful PC.
The relative ease of establishing an Internet TV service seems at first a threat to telco IPTV operators’ multimillion dollar investment, but both services do not necessarily compete for the same customers and there are some synergies between the two such as a common technology platform in the form of web-based technologies for content storage and delivery.
Broadcast IPTV has two major architecture forms: free and fee based. As of June 2006, there are over 1,300 free IPTV channels available.[9] This sector is growing rapidly and major television broadcasters worldwide are transmitting their broadcast signal over the Internet. These free IPTV channels require only an Internet connection and an Internet enabled device such as a personal computer, HDTV connected to a computer or even a 3G cell/mobile phone to watch the IPTV broadcasts. Various Web portals offer access to these free IPTV channels. Some cite the ad-sponsored availability of TV series such as Lost as indicators that IPTV will become more prevalent.
Because IPTV uses standard networking protocols, it promises lower costs for operators and lower prices for users. Using set-top boxes with broadband Internet connections, video can be streamed to households more efficiently than current coaxial cable. ISPs are upgrading their networks to bring higher speeds and to allow multiple High Definition TV channels.
IPTV uses a two-way digital broadcast signal sent through a switched telephone or cable network by way of a broadband connection and a set-top box programmed with software (much like a cable or DSS box) that can handle viewer requests to access to many available media sources.
Local IPTV, as used by businesses for Audio Visual AV distribution on their company networks is typically based on a mixture of: a) Conventional TV reception equipment and IPTV encoders b) IPTV Gateways that take broadcast MPEG channels and IP wrap them to create multicast streams.

Five (TV channel)
Five is a television channel that broadcasts in the United Kingdom. Launched in 1997, it is the fifth and final national terrestrial analogue television channel to launch. Originally called Channel 5, the station rebranded itself as Five in 2002.
The British frequency plan had only allowed for four channels to be transmitted over the whole of the UK using analogue terrestrial transmitters. The ITC had identified that UHF channels 35 and 37 could provide coverage of around 70% of the UK population. However, these channels were used by many domestic video recorders for RF connection to television sets. Before the channel could launch on Easter Sunday 1997 the broadcaster had to provide over-the-phone instructions or visit any home that complained to retune the video recorder or fit a filter to completely block the Channel 5 signal.
However, for many transmitters channels 35 and 37 were 'out of group', which meant that the roof-top receiving aerials were specifically designed to filter out Channel 5's broadcasts. Many people either could not receive the channel at all, or required a new aerial. The broadcaster has added to the transmitters to improve the analogue terrestrial coverage since that time. The channel was also provided on the analogue Astra/BSkyB service, which enabled people outside the terrestrial reception areas to receive it via a satellite dish.
Unlike the other four analogue British television channels, the channel cannot be received via analogue terrestrial broadcasts in many areas, including some parts of the south coast of England, where the signal would otherwise interfere with signals from television stations in France, many areas of North East England, especially around the major Tyne & Wear conurbation, many areas in Scotland, most of Wales and parts of Cumbria. The channel is available on all digital platforms (Sky Digital satellite, Tiscali TV IPTV and Freeview digital terrestrial, and also most cable operators).
The channel was the first analogue network in the UK to use a permanent digital on-screen graphic, which was unpopular with the viewing public and removed altogether on 16 September 2002.[5] But the channel's logo then returned to the screen on 11 October 2007 to co-incide with the forthcoming launch of Five's new digital channels Five Life (now known as Fiver) and Five US.
Unlike the other UK terrestrial channels, Five is not available on cable, MMDS or digital satellite in the Republic of Ireland, the first such service not to be available in The Irish Republic - although its terrestrial signal can be received in areas bordering Northern Ireland, or coastal areas close to Wales.

Five share of viewing since launch 1997-2008
Below is the official audience shares in percent for Five since 1997. Generally, Channel 4's audience share lingers around the 10% margin, and BBC One and ITV's share lingers around 20%-30%.
Audience shares were at their lowest in the channel's first year, but almost doubled in the second year, and continued to increase until reaching a peak of 6.6% in 2004 (the eighth year). Two years later, however, the audience share had slumped to less than 5%
